Deep under the ocean, off the coast of Argentina, something strange and beautiful was found. A small lobster, glowing with soft pink color, appeared on camera during a deep-sea dive. It looked like it had come from a dream – or maybe a toy shelf. Scientists were surprised. Viewers were amazed. They called it the Barbie Pink Lobster.
The lobster was spotted in August 2025, nearly 3,500 meters below the surface, in a place called the Mar del Plata Canyon. A robot named SuBastian was exploring the ocean floor when it found the lobster near a coral field. The lobster’s shell was shiny and pink, with silvery edges. It moved slowly and calmly, as if it knew belonged there. No other lobsters were nearby. It seemed to be alone.
Scientists think it might be a rare type of Patagonian lobsterette, or maybe even a new kind of lobster. They’re still studying it to learn more. Its pink color could come from what it eats, a special gene, or the deep-sea environment. It was found near other pink sea creatures, which makes scientists wonder if the area has something special that affects color.
This discovery shows that the deep sea still holds secrets. Even in places with no sunlight, life can be colorful, strange, and full of surprises. The Barbie Pink Lobster reminds us to keep exploring – and to protect these hidden worlds. Africa’s oceans may also have creatures we haven’t seen yet. This lobster is a symbol of curiosity, beauty, and the unknown.
