From August 27 to 31, 2025, the Ministry of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy in Senegal, in partnership with the National Assembly and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (ONUDC), organized a training workshop for Members of Parliament (MPs). The strategic workshop was designed to enhance the lawmakers’ understanding of key digital topics, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, personal data protection, and the fight against cybercrime.
The main goal of the training was to equip parliamentarians with the knowledge needed to help Senegal achieve digital sovereignty in line with its “Technological New Deal.” By providing this expertise, the government aims to enable lawmakers to develop and pass public policies and laws that are better adapted to the challenges of the digital age. The Ministry emphasized that in an era of increasing cyber-attacks, online fraud, and privacy breaches, cybersecurity and data protection are no longer optional but are now national imperatives.
Through this initiative, the Ministry is reaffirming its commitment to building a reliable, ethical, and inclusive digital environment for the benefit of both citizens and businesses. The collaboration between the Ministry, the National Assembly, and ONUDC highlights a concerted effort to proactively address digital challenges and ensure Senegal’s legislative framework supports its ambitious digital transformation agenda.
