Rwanda’s Ministry of ICT and Innovation has formalized a new partnership with the International Labour Organization (ILO) to boost the nation’s digital skills and enhance the digitization of small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The agreement, signed in Kigali, is a key component of the country’s broader strategy to use technology for inclusive development.
The collaboration is specifically designed to support the One Million Coders (OMC) initiative. A primary objective of this national program is to address the gender disparity within Rwanda’s technology sector. The partnership will focus on providing digital skills and opportunities to a greater number of women and girls, helping them secure a stronger position in the country’s burgeoning ICT industry.
Through this joint effort, both parties aim to accelerate job creation, provide accessible education, and empower people with disabilities using technology. The strengthened alliance builds on a previous partnership from 2023, which also focused on improving digital literacy and creating employment opportunities for young Rwandans in the digital economy.
