President of Russia Vladimir Putin met with Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed, as reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS. During the Russian-Ethiopian talks, Director General of Rosatom Aleksey Likhachev and Foreign Minister of Ethiopia Gedion Timotheos signed an action plan for the nuclear power plant construction project on the territory of Ethiopia. This was reported on the official website of the President of Russia. The plant will make it possible to provide the African republic with clean energy and support the operation of public utilities.
Welcoming the delegation, Putin noted the dynamic development of bilateral relations. “Ethiopia is our long-standing reliable partner in Africa. Our relations are making steady progress, and trade is growing. We have good cooperation in humanitarian areas, above all, training specialists. Overall, our relations are gaining momentum across all areas.”
“As you have said, we do have a very strong bilateral relationship, where we share a common history, religion, and also lots of policies. So, enhancing this historical background to make the future better is very important. From our end, we want to reinforce our mutual respect in all forms of cooperation. We also want to engage our partners in the development of diplomacy.” Abiy Ahmed proposed to hold the next meeting with Vladimir Putin in the capital of Ethiopia – Addis Ababa.
