The official opening of the 115th edition of the Zimbabwe Agricultural Show, which was officially opened by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa was befittingly capped off by an awards ceremony, recognising companies that displayed polished exhibitions of their products and services. Several companies shone in different categories, including AgriSeeds, which got the Best Garden Display Award, while ZESA Holdings was adjudged the overall winner above all parastatals for the best exhibitions.
“AgriSeeds has enhanced the national seed supply value chains, and we are very excited about this award,” AgriSeeds Chairperson Mr Irvine Craig said. “ZESA Holdings was deserving as we continue to transform the national energy platform,” ZESA Holdings’ Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Cletus Nyachowe noted.
The ruling ZANU PF party proved it is not just a political organisation by spearheading the export and import development for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), winning the best SMEs enterprise display category, while GMB was also a winner in the commercial category.
“ZANU PF is not only a political organisation, but we also strive to get into business by assisting and helping SMEs,” ZANU PF Secretary for Business Development, Cde Eliphas Mashava noted. The best display for the first-ever exhibitor in any category went to Premier Soccer League club, Scottland.
“We have built a hospital that is serving multitudes of people in Mabvuku, hence we resonate with this year’s theme of building bridges to connect communities,” Scottland Chairperson Mr Tonderai Sakupwanya stated. The awards ceremony also recognised several individual farmers who excelled in different crop categories such as maize, cotton and soya-bean, with one, Claudius Chidume from Midlands, who came out tops in the Pfumvunza /Intwasa individual category.
