Peru has become the second Latin American country, after Brazil, to open its market to Egyptian strawberry plants in 2025, according to an announcement by the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk.
As reported by Sada El-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS, the achievement follows negotiations between Egypt’s Agricultural Quarantine Authority and its Peruvian counterpart, resulting in the opening of a new export destination for Egyptian agricultural products.
Mohamed El-Mansy, Head of the Central Administration for Plant Quarantine, noted that this success aligns with national efforts to expand Egypt’s agricultural export markets worldwide. The initiative, according to El-Mansy, supports the government’s broader strategy to increase foreign currency revenues by boosting agricultural exports.
