Egypt has launched its first National Strategy for Youth and Sports (2025-2032), a comprehensive plan developed in partnership with United Nations agencies in Egypt, which was launched under the patronage of Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. The strategy, designed to benefit over 61 per cent of the Egyptian population, was unveiled by the Ministry of Youth and Sports. This is reported by Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.
Ashraf Sobhy, the Minister of Youth and Sports, explained that the strategy, which has been in development since 2019, had overcome challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic and broader global shifts. He emphasised that it represents the first national strategy of its kind specifically targeting the youth and sports sectors in Egypt.
He outlined the four key pillars underpinning the plan: the integrated upbringing and development of young people; the promotion of sports and physical activity as a fundamental part of a healthy lifestyle; enhancing athletic competition and achieving sporting excellence; and improving governance within the youth and sports sectors to maximise their contribution to the economy and to sustainable development.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly affirmed the government’s commitment to the strategy, highlighting the vital role of Egypt’s youth in achieving sustainable development. The UN partnership will be key to monitoring progress and ensuring the strategy’s success, as reported by the source.
