Egypt has emerged as a leading destination for tourism in the region, topping growth rates in the first quarter of this year with a 21% surge in international arrivals. Data suggests that international visitor spending in Egypt is projected to exceed US$15 billion this year, marking a notable increase compared to the previous year.
Two of Egypt’s most popular resort destinations, Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh, have been recognised among the world’s top tourist hotspots for this summer, further boosting the country’s reputation as a prime holiday location.
The Middle East’s tourism sector is experiencing increasing momentum overall, with growing numbers of tourists from outside the region expected to visit and stay for longer periods. Inbound travel from outside the region is forecast to grow substantially in the coming years. The report also noted the increasing importance of niche tourism sectors, such as sports tourism.
