The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has intensified its efforts to promote cybersecurity awareness and build staff capacity as part of activities marking Cybersecurity Awareness Month. In collaboration with CyberdefleX, the Commission organised a specialised training session aimed at enhancing the cybersecurity competence of its workforce.
The session focused on critical areas of cybersecurity best practices, including incident response, data classification protocols, password management, phishing detection and prevention, multi-factor authentication (MFA), and the importance of regular software updates. The training was designed to equip NDPC staff with practical skills to identify and mitigate cyber threats while strengthening internal data protection measures.
The National Commissioner and CEO of the NDPC, Dr. Vincent Olatunji, commended CyberdefleX and its CEO, Ademakin Oluwatosin, for their partnership and contribution to advancing cybersecurity knowledge within the Commission. He noted that cybersecurity remains a core aspect of NDPC’s mandate and emphasised the importance of continuous collaboration with industry experts to enhance institutional resilience.
This initiative reflects the NDPC’s ongoing commitment to fostering a culture of cybersecurity, privacy, and data protection across its operations. Through strategic partnerships and capacity-building programmes, the Commission continues to strengthen Nigeria’s data protection ecosystem and promote responsible digital practices among public institutions.
