Brad Binder’s recovery from a difficult start to the 2025 MotoGP season took another positive step as he delivered a strong finish at the Hungarian GP, despite managing a technical issue throughout the race. The South African rider now sits on 91 points, in eleventh place in the championship standings, with eight rounds still remaining in the season.
For the second consecutive weekend, Binder showcased his improved form, powering his way to a solid seventh-place finish following the summer break. The 30-year-old had a small rear end issue, which persisted and affected his braking zones. Despite that, he remained pleased with his performance while feeling more could have been achieved from the race.
“All things considered I think it was a pretty good race,” Binder said after the race. “I didn’t have the best of starts and had a small issue with the rear end locking, which stayed with me for the whole way. It was really difficult to manage that in the braking zones. “Despite that the overall package was working incredibly well and I think we could have done much better today. Still, 7th was a strong result.”
Qualifying for Q2 continues to be a challenge, often leaving the KTM rider to battle from the back of the grid. He began the Hungarian GP in 12th place after a slow start to the weekend, but his consistent performance in the last two races has been encouraging. “The last three races have probably been the best of the season so far,” Binder continued.
“Things have started to roll and feel like normal. I think we are in for a good second half of the year. Here, I was too slow on Friday and then we missed out on Q2 and starting further back at this place was rough.” With back-to-back strong finishes, Binder appears to have found momentum as the season progresses to Barcelona for the Catalan GP, where he will be looking for further improvements to close the gap on teammate Pedro Acosta, who has been finding a lot more to work with on the RC16 than his teammate as he currently sits in fifth place on the overall standings on 164 points.
