The Afghan interim government has launched a comprehensive five-year development strategy aimed at reinforcing governance, driving economic growth, and enhancing public services across the country, the office of the acting deputy prime minister for economic affairs said in a statement on Tuesday. The strategy was unveiled during a ceremony led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, with participation from cabinet members in Kabul, said the statement.
Baradar emphasized that the strategy aligns with Islamic principles, scientific standards, and Afghanistan’s current needs. He urged ministries to integrate their programs and projects with the plan to ensure effective coordination and optimal resource allocation, it added. The development strategy serves as a unified, long-term roadmap to guide Afghanistan toward its core objectives over the next five years.
Key goals include establishing robust governance, ensuring nationwide security, safeguarding territorial integrity, creating jobs, and fostering economic growth, according to Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the government. The implementation of this strategy is expected to enhance transparency and accountability, boost public and international confidence in the government, and improve access to essential services such as education and healthcare.
