Ethiopia earned a record US$8.3 billion in export revenues during the 2024/25 fiscal year, marking the country’s highest-ever foreign trade income, President Taye Atske Selassie announced. The achievement represents a 116% increase on the previous year and underscores Ethiopia’s growing global trade presence, according to Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS.
Addressing a joint session of the House of Peoples’ Representatives and the House of Federation in Addis Ababa, President Taye highlighted that agriculture and industry were the key sectors driving the surge, supported by the nation’s expanding digital economy and increased industrial capacity.
The President noted that Ethiopia also hosted more than 150 international conferences and forums during the year, bolstering its position as a regional centre for trade, investment, and diplomacy. According to him, the record export performance reflects the government’s efforts to boost private-sector growth, enhance productivity, and open new global markets.
