Russian Minister of Economic Development Maksim Reshetnikov and Ethiopian Minister of Trade and Regional Integration Kassahun Gofe Balami discussed the prospects for expanding partnership between the countries via videoconference. This was reported by the official website of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development.
According to Reshetnikov, in the first six months of 2025, mutual trade increased 2.2 times compared to the same period last year, reaching $191.2 million. He noted that the main driver of growth was imports from Ethiopia, including coffee supplies.
Among the key topics of the negotiations was also the preparation for the meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic and scientific-technical cooperation, which will take place in November.
Reshetnikov proposed organising a series of online conferences to exchange information on goods and services in demand. The Head of the Ministry of Economic Development added that Russian producers are ready to offer grain, fertilisers, and agricultural machinery. In addition, the Russian Minister invited his colleague to visit Russia.
