Flutterwave, Africa’s largest payment technology company, has released its half-year 2025 performance report, showing significant progress toward profitability, international expansion, and innovation in cross-border payments. According to the report, Flutterwave doubled its monthly profit margins by June 2025 compared to its 2024 average.
This was achieved through stricter cost controls and operational efficiency. The company’s enterprise payments business also grew strongly, recording about 20% year-on-year growth in total payment value (TPV), underlining its strategic focus on high-impact financial services.
The company expanded its international reach by securing 20 new U.S. Money Transmitter Licenses (MTLs) in the first half of 2025, bringing its total to 34. These licenses allow Flutterwave to serve U.S. customers more effectively. Across Africa, it strengthened regulatory presence in Ghana, Senegal, Cameroon, and Zambia, reinforcing its position as a continental leader in digital payments.
Cross-border payments between Africa and Asia emerged as a major growth driver. Flutterwave processed nearly $1 billion in transactions across both regions during H1 2025, powered by new partnerships with Asian companies such as Norafirst and Skyee. Its remittance service, Send App, also expanded further into markets including Ghana, Egypt, the U.S., U.K., and the European Union.
Product innovation was another highlight. The launch of the “Pay with Bank Transfer” feature in Ghana delivered impressive adoption, with total payment value rising 198% year-on-year and transactions outpacing other alternative payment methods. Flutterwave also introduced Next Gen APIs in beta, offering faster payouts, improved developer tools, and enhanced support for mobile wallets. The full rollout is expected later in the year.
Strategic partnerships added momentum to this growth. Flutterwave teamed up with Chpter AI to power social commerce payments in 11 African countries, with Global Remit to expand Send App’s reach in Europe and the U.S., and with Circle Payment Network to enable stablecoin settlements using USDT and USDC for enterprise clients.
On governance, Flutterwave completed its first-ever group-wide audit, a milestone in aligning its financial operations with global best practices. The company also earned recognition on the TIME100 Most Influential Companies list for the second year in a row, underscoring its rising impact on the global fintech stage.
Flutterwave’s H1 2025 results demonstrate its evolution from a high-growth startup into a sustainable, globally integrated fintech leader. By balancing profitability with innovation and regulatory expansion, the company is cementing its role as a key player in reshaping digital payments in Africa and beyond.
