Egypt’s national Wushu Sanda team athlete, Al-Husseini Wahdan, has reached the final of the World Games, taking place from 7 to 17 August in Chengdu, China, according to Sada El Balad, a TV BRICS partner.
In the semi-final, he won a tense match, the outcome of which was decided in the closing seconds. Wahdan will now compete against the Iranian champion for his country’s first gold in the discipline.
“I want to win the gold medal and present it as a gift to every Egyptian. Long live Egypt – with the determination of its champions and their desire to bring honour to the nation on the international stage,” the athlete said.
The Egyptian team also includes Munatallah Mohamed (under 70 kg) and Wahdan (under 85 kg). The delegation is led by Ahmed Abdel Wahed, with Captain Rami Kamel as head coach.
The Wushu Sanda competition at the World Games is overseen by Sharif Mustafa – President of the Egyptian, Arab and African federations and Vice-President of the International Wushu Federation – the first Egyptian and Arab to hold this position.
