Participants of the InteRussia fellowship programme for specialists from Latin America and the Caribbean (Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, Chile, and Ecuador) visited the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts. TV BRICS is the organiser and general media partner of the events. Ekaterina Mikhailova, Deputy Head of the Museum’s Excursion and Lecture Department, said that the group was given an overview tour, which began with an introduction to the history of the museum and its founder, Ivan Tsvetayev.
“We first went to the Egyptian Hall, where we saw the most ancient monuments and exhibits related to Vladimir Golenishchev’s discoveries. Then we went to the Mesopotamia Hall, where we saw Assyrian reliefs, ancient vases and finds related to expeditions. Finally, we went to the Ancient Troy Hall, visited the Greek, Antique and Roman art halls. We also saw the classical tradition, which was well represented in the Greek hall. We saw it in the example of the Italian Renaissance and then in the example of Dutch and Flemish art,” she said in an interview with TV BRICS.
Programme participant Alejandro Rubiano from Colombia, who has been working in the oil and gas industry for over 14 years, noted in an interview with the international media network that he was impressed by the exhibition, especially the Italian Renaissance hall. “It’s incredible. You can feel the culture in the air – it’s everywhere, from the streets to the government buildings. There are a lot of sculptures around, so I think Russia is a country of sculptures,” he shared his impressions.
Alejandro Rubiano also expressed his desire to return later to visit more museums and other cities, such as Kazan. The programme’s organisers include the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund, St. Petersburg State University of Economics, and Rossotrudnichestvo. The InteRussia fellowship programme was launched in 2021 by the Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund. The mission of the project is to create conditions for constructive dialogue between young professionals from Russia and foreign countries.
During their stay in Moscow, the programme participants also attended business meetings at the Gorchakov Fund and the Global Energy Association, and got to know the cultural and infrastructure sites of the capital. The cultural track included a walk through Zaryadye Park with a visit to the Flight over Russia attraction and the Energy of Dreams exhibition, a sightseeing tour of Moscow, a river cruise on the Moskva River, and a visit to the National Centre “RUSSIA”. The business track included excursions to the Moscow Metro Unified Dispatch Centre, the Moscow Traffic Management Centre, and an electric bus charging station.
